The Studio

Change the Norm is not a slogan, it is the working method

Alt Key Creations has been building in [City, State] since [Year founded]. Everything that leaves the studio was drawn, cut, fitted, and finished by one pair of hands.

The name comes from the key nobody presses on purpose. Alt is the modifier, the one that changes what every other key does. That is the whole idea: take the ordinary object, change one decision, and end up with something nobody else has.

The signature is a reclaimed oak field laid in herringbone or chevron, ebonized or left warm, with lettering that stands off the surface instead of being printed onto it. That construction is slower than a routed board and considerably slower than a vinyl decal. It is also the reason the light moves across the piece differently at four in the afternoon than it did at noon.

Wood is chosen board by board off the rack, not ordered by the bundle. Finishes are rubbed in by hand so they can be refreshed in twenty years rather than stripped. Joinery is cut to hold through a move, a humid summer, and a dry winter. Nothing is outsourced, which is why the build calendar is finite and why the studio says no to work it cannot do properly.

[Maker name] answers every commission inquiry personally. If you ask a question about grain direction at ten at night, the person who answers is the person holding the chisel.
